Big Boys Wear Lightning McQueen Underwear....

Last week we started doing some naked potty training time.  Just 30-60 minutes here and there as Ayden would tolerate.  On Sunday (January 23rd, 2011) we did a full day of naked potty training with NO accidents!  So Monday I continued the potty training and told him that if he could fill his potty chart with stickers Monday and Tuesday that we would go out and let him pick out new big boy underwear.  By noon Ayden wanted to put on big boy underwear!  So I pulled out the few that I had and he tried on a couple of them trying to figure out which one he liked best.

After he figured out which one he was going to wear he tried to talk Levi into wearing some, I explained to him that Levi was a baby and that babies  had to wear diapers, but that Ayden was a big boy and that big boys wear big boy underwear.  He said "Oh, Levi you wear diapers?"  I said ''yeah, he wears diapers'' and then Ayden said "Levi not wear diapers... (turned  to Levi) You use the potty? Levi wanna be a big boy??? YES???'' I couldn't help but chuckle.  I love that he was trying to talk Levi into being a big boy like him....Levi is FAR from ready though :(

Monday he put about 18 stickers on his chart.  Tuesday he did more  than his 7 as well...So when Darrel got home we took Ayden out to dinner to celebrate.  We put a diaper on him before we left because we are not 100% he can do it away from home.  During dinner he told us he had to go potty so Darrel took him to the bathroom and he peed!!!!!  We were SO PROUD!!!

We took him to the store to get new big boy underwear, the whole week he had been saying that he wanted Spongebob Squarepants underwear but when we got there he decided that he wanted to get more Lightning McQueen underwear <3 The kid knows what he likes. HAHA

While we were at the store I had to go potty and he tried then, and later he tried a second time...He didnt go either of those times.  About 5 minutes after the second trip to the potty he told us he had to go potty but we didnt get him there fast enough.  DARN!   We still gave him a TON of praise because he had told us that he had to go...it wasnt his fault that he didnt make it!  He is still learning, and we are learning with him.

We are incredibly proud of Ayden!  We are really proud of ourselves too!  Potty training is hard work.  But in a strange way it is pulling all of us together <3

HEHE!

This morning I hid the remote from you so that you wouldnt try to turn on the TV.  When you asked to watch a 'show' I told you that the remote was in his room taking a nap.  You searched high and low for about 20 mintutes.  When you finally gave up and started playing then you found it.  You came running to me and said "I found da remote, he done napping'' haha I couldnt help but laugh at you!  Your so cute!

Cant wait to see what you come up with next.

Discovering True Love...

My Dearest Ayden,

You have been doing so well lately!  Your speech has inproved tremendously.  You are even forming sentences on your own without any prompting...just this morning you came out of your room when you woke up carrying your snuggle blanket, you told me "I have a blanket"  and you grinned from ear to ear.

This afternoon we were at nana and papa's house, and you went into their bedroom, scanned all the movies and pulled Shrek off the shelf and said "Shrek"  You then brought it out to me and said "Shrek!!!  I watch it, ...Please"  How could I resist that??  so OF COURSE we watched it.  You even snuggled with me on the couch for over and hour while you watched it, that was great.  I love snuggling with you!

What can I say...your an awesome little dude!  You have helped me discover what true love really means!  I can not imagine my life without you!

I love you more than you could ever imagine!

New Things For You...

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated, life has been doing crazy things to us....

There are a few new things to share...

You started a once a week gymnastics class a few weeks back, you LOVE it!  It is hard to get you to listen or follow directions most of the time we are there, but you have a blast either way :)

You have started some speech therapy.  Your language and communication skills are lacking, but your gross motor is amazing!  Your doing things that the therapists said a typical 4 year old does-mommy is soooo proud! :)

Your language is already getting better, your starting to repeat  just about everything we say...and your starting to put sentences together and voice your needs....its so great to peek into your world some more....keep coming out of that shell!  I love the you your becoming!

I love you so much peanut!  xoxox

Diet update...

So far so good with the diet change.  It has been just over 2 weeks that you have been eating an almost totally gluten and casein free diet.  Within the last 4 days your behavior has totally changed for the better.  You are coming up to us and wanting to be held!  Or running up to us and hugging our legs for no reason at all....you have started giving kisses  again too...my how I have missed all your affection!

"Owies?...I kiss"

So a couple days ago, it had been raining and we had just gotten home.  I was getting you boys out of the van and into the house...I got you out and set you inside then went to go back and get Levi, well I fell right off the porch down both of the steps and you were standing there watching the whole thing.  you then responded "WOW, Mommy fall!...r u otay?"  to which I said "No Ayden Mommy has owies..." (I had twisted my ankle and scraped the top of my foot on the way down)  to which you replied "Owies?...I kiss" you then came outside and kissed my owies once you were done you said "there, BETTER!" and walked back inside.

I love the days where you hold conversation with me!

So Far So Good!

So far you are taking to the food changes well.  You have always eaten such a wide range of foods, and you have always preferred fruit and veggies to meat so that will make this a bit easier for us all.

7-12-2010: I made a black bean hummus for you, and you LOVED it...in fact you didn't touch anything else on your plate at dinner.  You even asked for more!

7-13-2010: Today was a bit rough for you, you kept finding things that you couldn't eat...I have not gotten all the things that you cant eat out of the house yet...I am working on it...there is a lot of stuff in our pantry that I am going to have to find new homes for!

we cut out milk today.  I think the milk is going to be harder for me to cut than the gluten...Its going to be hard to cook without any dairy but I am sure I will get the hang of it in time.  Your really liking your vanilla soy milk!  I was so surprised that you didnt throw the cup at me when I first gave it to you.  You LOVE your milk and the soy milk tastes a bit different.  But so far you dont seem to mind.  We also took a trip to the health food store today to get some snacks and things for when we go out of town Thursday.  So far I havent found anything that you just dont like.

7-14-2010: Well it is only 10:30am but we are off to a good start!  You had Cinnamon Chex with soy milk for breakfast...you ate it no problem!  Now I am brainstorming what I should feed you for lunch...I need to do some more research and get some more ideas.

Changes...

Well Ayden,

I really wish I had kept updating your blog...life got busy and I just kept forgetting...I wish I knew an exact timeline for the past years events and I wish that I could give exact dates, but you have been changing in the past year.

Your having trouble with large groups of people.  When we walk into a room full of people you slink back and often yell "NO......NO....NOOOOO"

You hate to have your picture taken anymore, and often scream if I even try.  Very rarely can I get you to be excited for a picture.  I am wondering where my happy, smiling little boy has gone...I want so badly to have my goofy little friend back.

Your afraid of so much these days, the shower, the animals at the zoo,  a dog walking in front of our house, other children your age....there are others too.  Your also starting to shorten words, words that dont need to be shorter.  For example:  you started saying 'cereal' and said it great for a few weeks, then all off a sudden one day 'cereal' is now 'siree'.

You  have become violent to yourself and to others.  You will scream and kick and bang your head on the floor for no apparent reason.  You bite and hit yourself quite often.  I can not put my finger on what is going on, but something is just doesn't seem right.  I have mentioned the odd behaviors to your doctors before, but it doesn't seem to be of any concern.  I have a feeling that we are headed in the wrong direction and that something needs to be done....

Your having bowel issues, and you find it extremely stressful to even use the bathroom...we have tried laxatives but with no avail.  After talking with some friends, daddy and I have decided that it is time to try cutting Gluten and Casein from your diet.  It wont be easy because you love bread, crackers and milk...You could live on milk...I keep telling daddy that if they could find a way to put a sippy lid on the gallon of milk you would be ecstatic!  But we figure we have nothing to loose in trying.  You only had a very small amount of Gluten yesterday and none so far today.  We will be removing Casein here in the days to come. I am headed to the store now to try and find you an alternative.  I will keep your blog updated on how that goes, and if we notice any changes. I hope and pray that this will provide you some relief.

I love you baby boy, more than you will ever know!

New Words

You never fail to amaze me kid... today you said one new word and a phrase!....I told you "I love you butter" in the van when we were taking brother to his appointment, and you said "Love you" your adorable!!!

When we got home from brothers appointment I got you out of your carseat, and you were hanging off of me funny and you sounded like you were trying to hawk a lugie...I laughed and asked you what you wanted and you said "walK" the K sounded like you were trying to hawk one up...it was way too funny...guess your working on your K sound huh?

I so enjoy watching you grow and I always wonder what you will do next...I cant wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I love you so much little man!

Love,
Mommy

GETTING SO BIG!!!

LOOK OVER THERE BROTHER!

Update...

Ayden seems to be growing pretty well! He is starting to talk, but very slowly, and not clearly.  We go to playgroups at least twice a week, and he tends to sit and play by himself, even at home it gets hard to get him to engage in an activity for more than a few seconds.  We tryed finger painting, and he acted like the world was going to crash down around him if his hands were dirty, he kept shaking them and complaining when i put the paint on his fingers.  I am not sure what is up with that. I am really hoping that maybe he is just a little shy, and he will start to bloom soon!

He is now about 30 pounds, and quite the chunk!  Most of the time he still wants you to carry him around, which is ok, he is still a baby! But my goodness he is heavy!  :)

Our Rock Band Drummer! :)

Aydens first major owie!

well last friday was the day I had been dreading! The day that we would end up taking our wild little man in for stitches!

That morning I put him in the tub for his bath, and thanks to 'mommy brain' forgot to put the little 'ducky' cover over the spout.  I was sitting next to the tub  on the floor and had just told ayden 'please sit down before you fall' not even 2 seconds later there he went! He fell right into the faucet, and sliced his chin open!

I took him into the pediatricians office, because I have never had stitches, and didnt know how to tell if he needed them.  The doctor we saw was able to glue his wound vs. stitches because he sat nice and still for her!  I was really glad that they didnt have to take a needle to his poor little face!
